  1. So I know a bit about Interboro and have seen them play this and the past few years. I think they are a pretty good team and deserving of #5 in Delco.

Somebody fill me in on this 8-1 AP team. I see they beat a pretty good Archmere, DE team. Losing to a very good Pennridge as there only loss does not mean they still may not be a pretty good team.

They seem to have been flying under the radar due to a lackluster schedule so far – and probably aren’t complaining about that in regards to the big game this week.

How do they match up with the Bucs?

    • AP runs the spread. They have a 1,100-yard back in Jerry Lanier. They’re athletic and very quick on both sides of the ball. Tyler Street, the quarterback, has really come into his own this year. Throws a very nice ball. Mobile, but doesn’t scramble much. They haven’t had a quarterback of his caliber in at least 10 years.

Extremely well-coached team that is prone to making mistakes Yes, they’ve played a weak schedule. They squeaked by a barely average Glen Mills and lost by three touchdowns to Pennridge in Week 4. They’ve handled everyone else. Archmere is OK, but I wouldn’t say they’re “quality,” since we all love using that word.

It’s a game can go either way.

      • Matt, first I would like to say it was very nice to have met you in person today. Enjoy the game Fri night. Andy, I would like to thank you for the Interboro support throughout the season. It was nice to see Interboro bumped up to # 5 this week. Fri night will be a very special night for all the kids playing. This is what football is all about. GO BUC”S!!!!

      • Also Andy, You will appreciate this being an EA alumnus. Like Matt said, AP is running a spread and have been doing it well this season. The last time the Buc’s faced a spread offense was against your EA team. And we know how that turned out. OUCH!

The Buc’s D has come far since that game, but if there was a weakness in the Buc’s D it would be against the big play that a spread offers. So, this is why I say Lennox must open the pass game this week to cover what the D may give up in big plays. If he does open the pass game I think the Buc’s take it by 1 or 2 TD’s.

But Lennox scares me with his “run first and pass in crisis” game planning. He wants the Del-Val title back, then he better change his game planning for this weeks game or else it will be 3 straight years w/o the title.

      • I was at the BUC’s practice today and must say I was a little disappointed at what I saw. Alot of dropped balls and just a very nonchalant workout. With only 1 more practice before the big game the players must buckle down and get hungry for AP is no team to take lightly. I hope tomorrows practice is a little more appealing to the fans who are watching. I think the cooler weather have been a factor, just too many players that seemed to be to cold to want to give 100% to their workout today.

  2. Yes hopefully lennox would throw a bit more this week, especially with the weapons they have on the outside , #18 fentress is one of the better receivers in delco this year as well as #20 Simmons, #14 everton is very good as well but #14 is very young and hangs his head alot during the games after a bad play or pass but the good thing about him is he is still learning out there and should be great his senior year, yet 14 is still a great compliment to the passing attack of the bucs if fentress and simmons get in there groove Friday night I don’t see an AP defense stopping the bucs, my predictions Interboro 27 AP 14

      • I wouldn’t be suprised if he went to one of them schools, he is a great receiver/LB all around football player

    • #14 ranked 3rd in the county in recieving yards w/ 5 TD’s. The team would say undisputably the best hands on the team. He runs the best routes on the recieving team and has exceptionally explosive ability to get seperation off the line. Simmons used to say to Everton in 7 on 7′s I want to cover you because you’ll make me a better DB, if I workout against you I shouldn’t have any problems with recievers from other teams. Very sharp for a sophmore, as far as what you call head hanging, I think is him just being hard on himself he holds himself and his teammates to a very high standard. He also knows his touches are limited on this run first team, so if a play breaks up or there is a penalty and his play is cancelled, it’s frustrating. Especially if he is expecting to be scouted.

      • Oops, he had held #3 ranking all 8 weeks, but this week he has dropped to 6th. See what happens to an exceptionally gifted reciever on Lennox’s recieving squad. These recievers are exremely underrated and under used.

      • Sorry mr buc if I hit a nerve talking about how good fentress and Simmons are, next time I will give your son/nephew the respect he deserves. He is a great athlete and very good hands but I just feel like fentress is the most explosive weapon on the Bucs offense along with there qb putting the ball where it needs to be

      • No Tom, I didn’t think for a moment that you didn’t give my son his respect. I absolutely love the recieving crew on this team, Fentress, Simmons both are awesome kids, on and off the field. And I agree with what you just said. When I said Everton was explosive I meant off the line. All of these players have the ability to make game changing plays. I get just as excited for them when they do well. Everton has too many jump balls on the fly route, needs to get hit in stride.

  3. @Big_Buc you are obviously frustrated with the lack of passing that this 8-1 INT team has used thus far. Just did some quick number crunching. First INT averages 13 passes a game through 8 weeks. This is the same average as the 2011 season. I agree there are more athletes on the field offensively but it is not like there is a dramatic drop in pass attempts. Following it up with this point Everton has 34%(21) of the caught passes thus far with Fentress just behind him with 33%(20) the rest of the skill players including Simmons make up the final 33%. Everton has half of Rentos’ 10TD Pass, followed by Fentress at 4…I’d say the ball is being spread around fairly to keep everyone “happy”.

You do also realize that the Bucs have had back to back weeks of running clock games with AP and Chester, and further back Prep Charter. That’s pretty much 6 quarters of not throwing the football with your starters.

*All stats were used from delcofootball.com

    • You’re right 0cat8. Not realizing running clocks move fast and in order for them to be running we must have large lead. Thanks for the objectivity. But, you are right I would like to see even more passing, I just think it makes for a more exciting game. Oh, we have not played AP yet, I think you meant Chichester. Thanks again.

  4. @Big_Buc I actually meant Penn Wood…I meant no disrespect to AP with that comment just typed too quick. Remember exciting is good but effective is vital!

  5. Lennox has never been a passing coach. Just ask the previous QB’s as Matt Smith can attest. I can’t remember two consecutive years that they QB’s had over 1,000 yards passing. They must have dusted off the back part of the play book lol.

  6. Well, if you are 8-1, why fix it if it ain’t broke? Also, INT may well have some good pass plays in store for AP. When you have some weak teams to play leading up to the big game, you don’t want to show AP anything.

Also not a bad idea to run the clock with long scoring drives and keep AP’s offense off the field.

I would hope the INT coaches have put together a flexible game plan. Stick with what works and see how that goes while mixing in a few more passes, but also be prepared to open it up if need be.

Just don’t get stuck sticking to one game plan if it is not working well.
