  1. Uh oh, How do you rank then now?

EA beats Chichester 49-0. Has outscored opponents 225-7.

Ridley beats Harriton 35-0 and is on a roll.

    GV loses to Springfield 35-25.

Who’s common? Springfield lost to Interboro 21-14 while EA beat Interboro 41-0.

I don’t see a common opponent with Ridley and EA.

Glad I don’t have to make this choice.I can’t see Springfield as #1 with a loss to a team EA dominated.

Is it EA or Ridley? If you hold course, it is EA, but I know a lot of Ridley and Central League types won’t be happy.

    • What a crazy night. You’re right… it won’t be easy. Garnet is going to end up plummeting in the rankings.

I don’t care what anyone says, after witnessing them first-hand tonight, the hype is real. EA is crazy good.

      • GV Plummeting in the rankings? What is that supposed to mean? They are 4-1 w/ Ridley next week, who’ve they have beaten twice last year.

Everyone acted like Springfield was going to be a walk on for Garnet Valley. This team was one extra point away (missed it) from making the score 42-42 last year. They always play GV tough.

As for Ridley, they look dominant.

As for EA, they look unstoppable.

  2. AS I SAW IT FIRST HAND INTERBORO HELPED EA BEAT THEM. KEEP YOUR EYE ON INTERBORO SINCE THEN AND YOU WOULD BE TERRIBLY MISTAKEN TO THINK INTERBORO WOULN’T GIVE EA A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY NOW. INTERBORO IS NO JOKE JUST ASK SPRINGFIELD. SEE YA IN THE PLAYOFFS.

    • I posted in a previous thread that I did not think the Bucs were 41 points worse than EA, but with that score, EA beats them on a good day for the Bucs – and the Bucs do have a pretty good team.

The problem for the Bucs would be the EA defense if they payed again. The Bucs would probably not put up more than 10 points, and EA would score a few more than that given their spread is kicking on all cylinders.

Speculative rematch score – EA wins 24-10 or 27-10. That’s not a knock on the Bucs. I think they are quite good. I just think EA is that good.

      • I haven’t seen Interboro, but they normally have the same characteristics every year: Tough, gritty, never too big, hard-working, blue-collared kids.
I like Rashon Fentress and Sonny Armstrong, and Qb Nick Rentos seems to be a keeper. Warren Allen, a transfer from Springfield, has been a pleasant surprise at RB.

I think there’s a bogus perception about EA. It could be a tax-bracket thing, for all I know. The perception is they are rich kids, so that means they aren’t tough enough to hang with Ridley. The weak shcedule argument is nonsense.

The EA kids are as “football talented” as Ridley, Interboro, GV, etc. I am convinced that is the case. Put them in the Central League, and they’ll go neck and neck with the big boys. EA’s skill kids (Strain, Hager, Strouss, McLaughlin) are all big, lacrosse kids with tremendous speed and athleticism. Oh, and LT Jack Florio, though not as big as Ridley’s Matt Sinex, is as good as they come.

  3. With the Inter-Ac being VERY down this year I believe EA may have a chance to win this league. Team Speed is very good and some of these headliners(Strain,Strouss,Hager,Florio,Adonna, etc.) have been three or four year contributors. Other kids have bought into the system and work ethic the aforementioned have developed up in Newtown Square. With Malvern being down this year, I think we will truly see how good EA is the last day of their season against Haverford School. Either way it is great to see their program back on top and running smoothly. And yes I believe they beat Malvern and the league comes down to EA vs Hav. Going to be a great game.

    • That’s what I predicted in an earlier thread. EA @ HS decides the I-A the last game of the year. This football rivalry extends back to 1889 but really has heated up the last 40 years. Kids are taught in 1st and 2nd grade to despise the other school.

      • That would be great for Delco, wouldn’t it? Now I have to go back and look to see the last time EA-Haverford met with the title at stake.

  4. I think 1970 (could be wrong) was the last time EA/HS decided the Inter-AC. EA and HS are not consistently strong in football. The I-A titles tend to go to MP (mostly), PC and GA. EA was strong in the 80′s and early 90′s. HS has been strong more recently. PC and GA are down this year, though PC is a sleeper in my view.

Also, never count out MP. They played a good Roman team even to a one point loss and both of them lost to powerful LaSalle (#1 SE PA) by the same score. I see a real quality win for MP over Coatesville. The ville killed a good Unionville team 42-0. The ville lost to #2 SE PA Downingtown East by just 1 point and beat a good Central Dauphin team.

MP is still under consideration for the SE PA top 10 at 2-2. You would have to say they are the team to beat in the I-A – as they almost always are, with EA and then HS has the strongest challengers

MP plays EA and HS a couple games before the HS/EA showdown.

Somebody posted MP is down. This is not one of their stronger teams, but I have never seen MP not have a very competitive team. Consistently the best team in the I-A over the years.
