Chester High’s coaching staff has been reduced in half, effective immediately.
Four coaches, including head coach Chuck Crews, are left to coach the freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams.
Calls to the administration building seeking comment were not immediately returned.
Assistant coach Ed Kloss wrote a heartfelt letter describing the dire situation. The letter is slated to run in the Daily Times over the weekend.
“They basically want us to walk away,” Crews told me. “We’re going to fight this to the end.”
Chester-Upland, according to Crews and Kloss, has neglected the football program. The program had used public grants and private donations to improve the overall condition of facilities, equipment and uniforms.
“They didn’t spend a dime on us,” Crews said of the school district.
More to come.
its sad what they are doing to the chester high kids . its not fair. Crews is a heck of a coach
I saw chester in a 7 on 7 with garnet valley this summer. I was very impressed with the coaching staff. The players were well coached and disciplined. It is a shame for the kids, this is what they need to grow as respectful adults. The school district should learn from the coaches how to devolpe these kids because they are doing a horrible job in school.
