Camp Quick Hits: Interboro

Over the next couple weeks we will take you inside training camp of your favorite Delco team. For full reports on every team, make sure to check out our annual football preview guide, due out Aug. 30.

1. Backfield Depth

Bucs coach Steve Lennox likes what he has at running back. Seniors Tyler McGlaughlin, Tom Takacs and Austin Quiah will rotate. That’s a pretty experienced group Quiah has breakout potential. He showed flashes last fall when he rushed for 566 yards and 12 TDs.

Also, Warren Allen came over from Springfield to provide depth. I always thought Allen had potential.

2. Not too big, but always tough.

Lennox says it every year … His kids aren’t always the biggest and strongest, but they sure know when to bring it. Even still, there are some big boys on the line, led by Matt Gould, an All-Delco wrestler last winter.

Rashon Fentress is the Bucs’ top receiver as a tight end. The 6-3, 215-pound senior has the size and talent to be a real difference maker on offense.

3. Run first, pass later.

Lennox has always run the ball, and you should expect no different in 2012. First-year varsity signal caller Nick Rentos has been impressive in camp and could the opportunity to air it out.

“He started on JV last year and did a great job for us,” Lennox said. “He’s a smart kid … and has command of the offense.”

Biggest Strength: Skill players and RB depth
Biggest Question: Can Interboro get back to the top of the Del Val? The Bucs’ stranglehold on the league ended in 2010.
